ADULT PROGRAMS

 

INTRODUCTION TO CLAY: $250

7-week course

Includes open studio time to work outside of class.

 

Work side by side in an atmosphere of individualized direction and encouragement.  This course will introduce a variety of clay techniques using the traditional potter’s wheel, as well as handbuilding methods including slab, pinch and coil.   Students will form both functional and sculptural pots.   Surface decoration and glaze techniques are also taught.  

 

Materials fee: Glazing and firing fees are included in cost of purchased clay, $30 per 25lbs.

INTERMEDIATE WHEELTHROWING: $250

7-week course

Includes open studio time to work outside of class.

 

Ready to take your passion to the next level?   Students who wish to explore more sophisticated wheel throwing techniques will get the opportunity.   Examine how form relates to function, implemented through lids, spouts and handles.   Challenge yourself to throw larger, complex vessels such as casseroles, platters, teapots and bottleneck forms.   Investigate the usage of more surface decoration with slip, stain and glaze. 

 

Materials fee: Glazing and firing fees are included in cost of purchased clay, $30 per 25lbs.

 

Tuesdays, 6:30pm — 8:30pm

Fridays, 9:30am — 11:30 am

TILE MAKING: $250

7-week course

Includes open studio time to work outside of class.

 

Tiles enable you to translate your paintings onto a durable surface, relief sculpture, or work in monumental size using elements that are intimate in scale.   Students in this course will learn how to make handmade sculptures using slab and press-mold methods. 

 

Materials fee: Glazing and firing fees are included in cost of purchased clay, $30 per 25lbs.

 

Optional:  Students may purchase a small wrought-iron table for an additional fee.

HANDBUILDER’S DELIGHT: $250

7-week course

Includes open studio time to work outside of class.

 

Think big or small, but definitely think outside of the box!  Join other handbuilding enthusiasts and discover the endless possibilities of clay expression, as both a sculptural and functional medium.   Students explore the use of texture, hump and slump molds and are allowed the opportunities for larger scale projects.

7-week course. Ages 5+

 

This creative class is designed for children and adults to explore the exciting world of clay together.   Students choose from an array of fun projects that teach wheelthrowing and handbuilding techniques such as slab, pinch, and coil.  Take advantage of this unique time to reconnect with your child.

AFTERSCHOOL TEEN WHEEL: $195

7-week course. Ages 12—17

 

Give your teenager a positive, rewarding alternative to the mall.  Students will focus on wheel-thrown objects, and will be encouraged to create personal expression through altering, carving, and faceting. Students will also be led through the glazing process, learning various surface decorating techniques. All levels of experience are welcome.

LITTLE FINGERS IN CLAY: $130

5-week course. Ages 5— 7; 8—11

 

This class promises to exercise your child’s imagination.   Each week students will be given a theme to work with while learning new skills in clay formation.   We will discover new animals and their habitats; journey back into medieval times; and even recreate the dinner table scene in a fun new way.
