ANDBUILDING I:
FUNCTIONAL & SCULPTURAL
Instructor:
Nancy Priest

Handbuilding in clay relieves one of the disciplined, streamlined symmetry from the wheel, and challenges one to create interesting forms--that are at least crafted and balanced  enough that they do not fall apart or fall over!  Discover the gratification of freeing your creative sprit by making objects with simply your own hands and some basic tools. This class gives best methods for the basics of handbuilding and covers pinch, coil, and slab construction. Both functional and non-functional work is considered. Students will learn how to sketch basic forms and translate their ideas/drawings into 3-dimensional forms. Surface decorating and glazing techniques are also presented.
